SCI is very active in the field of non-formal education and Branches and SCI International organize numerous related events every year, such as seminars or trainings. Not all the branches, however, manage to organize such activities without external support because of lack of organisational capacity or specific skills. To address existing needs, in 2013, following a Plan of Action approved at the ICM, the IEC established the SCI Pool of Trainers and Facilitators (TP).
After 2 years in operation, and having 3 vacancies, the TP is now in the position to invite new applicants to join.
The purpose of the Pool is as follows:
Maintain the expertise of SCI;
Strength the capacity of SCI in organizing seminars and training courses;
Support SCI Branches in running successful educational events;
Strengthen the SCI identity in seminars and trainings;
Implement the project strategy of SCI International;
Ensure the professional development of trainers.
TP is a self-coordinated body, and requires a lot of independence and initiative from its members. You can read more on the Pool at www.pooloftrainers.sciint.org. The Pool also runs its Facebook page, available at www.facebook.com/PoolOfTrainers.
We therefore call for 3 new applicants to join the existing members of the Pool that will be composed by 11 members in total. The selected trainers will then become TP members for the next 3 years (1 term).
An eligible candidate must have a sufficient training experience, and we are especially searching for specialists (trainers) in the following topics:
Intercultural Dialogue and Peace Education;
Environment, Sustainability and Climate Justice;
Volunteerism and Participation.
As TP is an internal SCI body, only trainers and facilitators from SCI branches and groups are eligible to apply.
There is no age limit.
We want to especially encourage trainers from outside Europe to consider joining the Pool.
Candidates should be aware that as well as delivering educational content through training and facilitation, they are required to have the skills and availability to manage the communication and internal functions of the TP, i.e. email communication, Skype, statistics tools, Google drive, etc.... The TP membership also commits to a monthly Skype meeting, one or two physical meetings per year and email communication is ongoing. Candidates should demonstrate their commitment and ability in this area in their application.
The new trainers can expect to receive a fee for running a training course for SCI (the amount dependent of the project budget), however, the applicants should also bear in mind that they are supposed to work on a pro bono basis (without remuneration) while developing and implementing the TP Plan of Action (e.g. needs assessment of the branches, liaison with the IEC/IS for specific actions, etc.).

The selection will be made by the International Executive Committee in consultation with the current Pool of Trainers, and will be based on the quality of the applications of candidates, as well as matching the current needs of SCI and the TP. All candidates will be notified at the end of June / beginning of July.
